Humanity works in partnership with God and low income, working families in our community. Our partner families are required to make a minimal down payment, contribute 300- 450 hours of “sweat equity,” and pay for their home through a low interest mortgage. They come from all walks of life and through VVHFH, they will become first time homeowners.

At Habitat for Humanity, we believe that everyone, everywhere deserves a decent place to call home. Our program gives people a “hand up, not a hand out.” We empower families who are willing to work hard to achieve their dream of home ownership. Everyone in your community wins when Verde Valley Habitat develops and sells affordable housing to qualified families. People in the Verde Valley partner with Habitat to build or improve a place they can call home. With our help, our new homeowners achieve the strength, and independence they need to build a better future for themselves and their families.

CHRP Project wheelchair ramp

Verde Valley Habitat For Humanity has found that Veterans, Seniors and Low-income families often must leave their homes because they cannot afford to make critical home repairs or add wheelchair ramps. Verde Valley Habitat For Humanity has a Critical Home Repair Program to help with these exterior home repairs and wheelchair ramps so that they can have a safe and decent place to call home. Just another way that Verde Valley Habitat For Humanity helps the families in our community.

Verde Valley Habitat For Humanity is the local affiliate of a faith based global organization dedicated to building affordable homeownership in partnership with qualified families. The Verde Valley Habitat For Humanity Affiliate was formed in 1993 and approved by Habitat For Humanity International in 1995. Our first Executive Director was a volunteer and we built our first home in the Verde Valley in 1996.

Habitat For Humanity International was founded in 1976 by Millard Fuller, who was a missionary with the goal “To eliminate poverty housing from the face of the earth.”  Habitat For Humanity International is now the 6th largest home builder in the United States & The largest Non-profit home builder in the world!

How Can I Help?

As a private non-profit organization, all of our funding comes from local contributions and partnerships. Donations of goods, services, help to cover our operating costs, and cash donations fund the building of our homes, obtain land for construction, and provide valuable services to our homeowners. Your financial support, your voice, and your time will help bring strength, stability and independence to families in need of a decent place to live. Decent shelter is something we all need to thrive.  With a little help we all have the potential to stand on our own.

Volunteers provide most of the labor, and individual and corporate donors donate money and materials to build Habitat houses. Our new homeowners themselves invest hundreds of hours of labor – “sweat equity” – into building their homes, and the homes of others. Their mortgage payments go into a revolving Fund for Humanity that is used to build more houses.

Working together, sided by side, helps to build stable communities.  Through shelter we empower!
