MLK Service Day with LDS youth.

This is a picture of the group after they finished cleaning the yard.   They did a FABULOUS job!!  The whole crew were all eager and hard workers!

A group of about 35 youth ranging in age from 11 to 18 and 5 adults from the local LDS Church Stake got together to help Verde Valley Habitat for Humanity on MLK day last month.
These volunteers joined to do service work for MLK Service Day. They chose Verde Valley Habitat to help Senior Citizens in need. Shown below in the photo is the home of a 69 year old man with many physical limitations including a bad back and of very low income.  Verde Valley Habitat for Humanity worked with the City of Cottonwood Police Department in finding this home to clean up. The whole group pitched in and cleaned up the property, making it a safer environment for the homeowner. Helping our neighbors is a gesture of love, and selflessness. Thank you to everyone who helped out on this project.
If you have a group that would be interested in doing a similar project, please call Lisa or Tresa at 928-649-6788 or email us at Volunteers@VVHabitat.org.

This is a “before” picture of the property.

Part of this same group of the LDS students split off and stayed around the ReStore to work with our ReStore staff, Doug Holmes, cleaning up the back yard of the lot to help with processing. All kidding aside, they group did an excellent job and are welcome back anytime!
