Dec 12 – Volunteer Spotlight
We have many volunteer opportunities here at Verde Valley Habitat in addition to construction! We are presently in need of Volunteers for our Critical Home Repair Program (CHRP) and in our ReStore. Our ReStore fully supports administration expenses so that 100% of all other donations go directly to construction of new homes! Volunteer Jim Stitley says, “Processing is the hub of the ReStore, it’s where all of the donated items come into store to be looked over, cleaned and priced. We receive any and everything from light bulbs to freezers. The Habitat ReStore is a nice place to work. Customers can get bargains here every day, sometimes even something better than they can buy in retail stores, and for less money. It’s a great organization!”
Patrick started working at the Habitat ReStore in June. “Every day is an exceptional day, always a different surprise. It’s like walking into your grocery store and you don’t know what to buy. Here it’s like a big yard sale!” Volunteers help our staff with the abundant amounts of donations we receive every day. They help make it fun! “We get to test a lot of stuff, see if it works, and get it on the shelves for sale. We see a lot of nice things come through and we price it based on it’s value to honor our donors, and as a savings for the customer. I enjoy working here!”
