Thanks to One AZ Credit Union’s grant funding along with other sponsorship’s and grants, Verde Valley Habitat For Humanity has been able to complete 15 Critical Home Repair Projects this year, 7 of which have been Wheelchair Ramps. This program is vital to Verde Valley Habitat For Humanity’s mission of eliminating poverty housing in the Verde Valley and helping to keep Veterans, Seniors and Low-income families in their own homes. With out the support of our Corporate Sponsors like One AZ Credit Union none of this would be possible.
The impact for these projects cannot be measured in traditional ways but certainly can be felt in the gratitude and love from the homeowners that we are helping. Like Jonnie, a homeowner we recently built a wheelchair ramp for. Jonnie had a “make shift” ramp that was extremely narrow, steep and dangerous, Jonnie had fallen off this ramp multiple times and been hurt. Due to her injuries and now fear of the ramp, Jonnie did not leave her home for 3 months! Verde Valley Habitat For Humanity completed Jonnie’s ramp in June and given her peace of mind, she finally feels safe in her own home.
