Building Houses, Building Hope, Building Communities One Family At A Time
Verde Valley Habitat for Humanity (VVHFH) is a locally run affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing organization. Verde Valley Habitat for Humanity works in partnership with God and low income, working families in our community. Our partner families are required to make a minimal down payment, contribute 300- 450 hours of “sweat equity,” and pay for their home through an interest free, no-profit mortgage. They come from all walks of life and through VVHFH, they will become first time homeowners.
At Habitat for Humanity, we believe that everyone everywhere deserves a decent place to live. Our program gives people a “hand up, not a hand out.” We empower families who are willing to work hard to achieve their dream of homeownership. Everyone in your community wins when Verde Valley Habitat develops and sells affordable housing to qualified deserving families. Affordable houses owned and occupied by working families create stability in lives and neighborhoods. Stability produces confidence and happiness for Habitat families that help build, and then buy their own home. It’s infectious and uplifting for the entire community.
Verde Valley Habitat for Humanity was founded in 1995. Our affiliate has completed and dedicated 11 homes with house #12 for the Bonner family close to completion. The Ryan family has been selected as the recipients of house #13 in Sedona.
Shandra Ryan a school teacher in Sedona and single mother of three, is thrilled to have been selected; and thanks to Salt River Materials Group sponsorship, this will be our first “green” build. We hope to break ground soon and you can follow our progress on our Facebook page.
VVHFH believes that volunteers are the backbone of our ministry. Many families in the Verde Valley would not be living in decent housing if it weren't for you! Volunteer work provides an opportunity to grow, bond, and experience good feelings that are carried back to your family and the workplace.
Volunteers are always needed and appreciated and we have many opportunities. All it takes is your desire to make a difference in the lives of others! Click here to see how you can be involved.
Volunteers provide most of the labor, and individual and corporate donors donate money and materials to build Habitat houses. Partner families themselves invest hundreds of hours of labor - "sweat equity" - into building their homes, and the homes of others. Their mortgage payments go into a revolving Fund for Humanity that is used to build more houses. If you want to make a difference in the lives of those in your community, you can donate now. Click on the link 'Donate Online' to donate to the Verde Valley HFH affiliate in Cottonwood, AZ. Our affiliate receives the entire amount of designated donations -- not one penny is deducted for fees or charges of any kind.
